Government laws never have stopped murder, rape or theft in the past - anywhere, anytime. That might as well have been Dave L. Wegner's first line in his "My Voice" column in the June 5 Argus Leader, "Abortion ban will fail to deliver on promises."

Laws never will stop crime completely, but to pretend they have no effect on crime is preposterous. Wegner's view must be one of indifferent mothers coldly and heartlessly rushing to kill their unborn babies.
