This letter primarily is a response to Nikki Rowenhorst's letter - "Freedom from oppression" - that was printed in the April 3 Argus Leader.
I can think of nothing more oppressing to an unborn baby than being killed. Rowenhorst stated that she does not believe in government trying to dictate morals to us. If we followed that line of thinking, we should eliminate all laws pertaining to murder, manslaughter, robbery, extortion, etc., etc., etc. and leave them up to choice.
The same could have been said of slavery. None of the above issues are any less moral than abortion.
Rowenhorst suggested that our tax dollars could be spent more productively for two specific issues that evidently are key issues to her. Nationally, Planned Parenthood receives more than $300 million of our tax dollars per year. I am forced to support that organization with my tax dollars. These tax dollars certainly could be spent more productively.
I agree with Rowenhorst that in the end, we all will be standing before the same judge. I simply cannot envision what excuse some will use for murdering unborn babies. I do not believe that any excuse will stand at that time. The only thing that will stand is true repentance, which must include changing from our wicked ways, both individually and as a nation.
