I'm writing in regard to Sylvia Fuoss' letter in the April 17 Argus Leader: "Fetuses aren't babies." I have a few questions for her. Has she ever felt a baby kick inside of her? Has she ever heard the heartbeat or seen a baby yawn and move around on an ultrasound?
I currently am pregnant with my second child - a son - and feel very blessed to be able to feel him kick inside of me every day. He is a living being inside of me.
I realize people are entitled to their own opinions, but I feel saddened when someone calls the miracle of an unborn baby a parasite. I unfortunately know many couples who cannot conceive and know that they would do anything to feel a baby inside of them.
Pregnancy and conception are a gift from God and should not be taken for granted. I have loved this son from the beginning and will continue to do so after he is born. I only hope that Fuoss' mother did not think of her as a parasite.
